Today marks the official release of my new graphic novel, The Girl, The Priest, And The Devil. The book is deeply rooted in the rich tradition of 19th-century Greek folk legends and fairy tales, and particularly in the material collected and recorded by Nikolaos Politis, the father of Greek folklore studies.
What is worth noting is that Politis did not view tradition as a tool for enforcing national identity or historical continuity, but as a means of understanding our shared human experience. For him, folklore was part of a universal human culture, shaped by our common fears, needs, and imagination — a perspective that feels especially relevant in the troubled times we are living through today.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Steve Wands and Dead Sky Publishing for their trust, The Future of Agency for their guidance, as well as to my exceptional creative team: Yasmine Pond on colors, Buddy Beaudoin on lettering, Anna Kubik on editing, and above all, Staša Gačpar on art, who was generous enough to pour her very soul in every single panel of this book.
The Girl, The Priest, And The Devil is available now wherever books are sold. Seek it out.
